DfE provides Grant Funding to the Consortium for 2019-20

Chairman, Dr Barrie Hopson, today announces a DfE grant of £80,650 to support the Consortium’s core national work in leading, driving and promoting the Standard: “Now that DfE strongly recommends all schools to achieve the Quality in Careers Standard within its ‘Careers Strategy’, we’re delighted that the Department is offering us financial support. It means we can properly fund our national corporate governance, executive direction and professional services as well as increase significantly our marketing and promotion of the Standard.

As part of our strategy in the coming year, there will be three major events, free to attend, for schools and colleges not yet engaged with the Standard. These will include the opportunity for face-to-face meetings with a number of our Awarding Bodies, and a chance to hear testimony from schools and colleges already holding the national Standard about the development journey towards accreditation and the benefits it brings for their students.

In order to make receiving this grant possible, we’ve revised our Constitution, with the CDI becoming our ‘enabling host legal entity’.

A copy of our revised Constitution and the Memorandum of Understanding establishing the CDI as the ‘enabling host legal entity’ accompany this statement.

The Board wishes to place on record its thanks to the DfE for this most important grant – and to the CDI for its readiness to become our ‘enabling host legal entity’.
